Client meetings in a hybrid working culture includes the use of your computers camera, microphone and screen. We're here to give quick tips to help troubleshooting when conducting meetings on Connect4 with Safari.

Note: Connect4 works well on many browsers including Chrome. See here for troubleshooting on Chrome

Microphone & Camera: First time joining meeting

As with all webpages on Safari, you'll be prompted to allow certain permissions upon connecting to a Connect4 pod meeting. When you go to join a meeting the first time, you'll need to Allow the webpage access to your camera and microphone.

When this window pops up, select Allow.

You'll be able to join the meeting.

However, if there continues to be permission preference open, please use the below section to change or update your website preferences.

Microphone & Camera: Update website preferences

Safari users can customise how to browse individual websites based on needs of that specific website to allow for access including:

  • microphone

  • camera

  • screen sharing

Connect4 will require access to the first two for all meetings. If you initially denied access or set to ask for permission to you, you'll want to take the following steps to "Allow"' use of both going forward.

To change for Connect4, open up Safari and navigate to https://meet.connect.app. Login to your account. In Safari, select Preferences:

Navigate & click on the Websites icon. Find Camera and Microphone on the left hand panel. Change the setting to "Allow" for both.

This will commit to your preference. You can close the window and go back to your Connect4 browser window to connect to a meeting.

Screen Sharing

Safari can be enabled to ask or deny screen sharing for website you are using. To check if this is the case, follow these steps to have Safari ask if you'd like to screen share in a Connect4 meeting.

Open Safari > go to https://meet.connect.app > select Preferences in Safari

Navigate & click on the Websites icon. Find Screen Sharing on the left hand panel. Change the setting to "Ask".

When you navigate back into your browser when your Connect4 meeting is running, select the mint colour "Share screen" button.

A window will ask if you'd like to screen share in Connect4, select "Allow" & start sharing.

Safari will always ask this each time you host a meeting due to advanced protocols in place by Apple.
