Client meetings in a hybrid working culture includes the use of your computers camera, microphone and screen. We're here to give quick tips to help troubleshooting when conducting meetings on Connect4 with Google Chrome.

Note: Connect4 works well on many browsers including Safari. See here for troubleshooting on Safari

Google Chrome: Enable Camera & Microphone

Below are the latest instructions from Google about how to "Change a site's camera & microphone permissions."

  1. Open Chrome

  2. At the top right, click More > Settings.

  3. Under "Privacy and security," click Site settings.

  4. Click Camera or Microphone.

    1. Turn on or off Ask before accessing.

    2. Review your blocked and allowed sites.

    3. To remove an existing exception or permission: To the right of the site, click Delete

    4. To allow a site that you already blocked: Under "Blocked," select the site's name and change the camera or microphone permission to "Allow."

Quick access tip!
The defaults for both can be quickly accessed by pasting the following link into your URL bar:

If your organisation has a policy to set these settings, you may need to speak to your administrator. See the latest instructions from Google about how to "Change a site's camera & microphone permissions" for what to communicate to that person.

Google Chrome: Screen Sharing (NotAllowedError)

When using Chrome you will click on ‘Share screen’ in Connect4 then be shown a window similar to below showing the screens connected to your computer.

To share screen, click on the box of the screen you want to share then click Share button (bottom right corner).

The error "NotAllowedError" can occur when trying to share your screen using Chrome.

Note: The Share button will be gray as shown below if the screen to share has not been selected. Upon clicking on the screen to share, share button will turn blue indicating it is active.

Google Chrome: MacOS

In addition to checking your browser settings above, the operating systems can block the sharing of screens. This is particularly true for Mac computers that have upgraded to macOS Catalina.

For those using MacOS Catalina version 10.15 or later, you'll need to grant access to the new Screen Recording Permission in order to share your screen on Connect4. It's a very quick process that will take a few steps - and you don't have to end your meeting!
